As always, it is traditional for members to bring something delicious for the table – whatever you can.  There will be mulled wine and the committee members are donating prizes for a raffle.

This season we have entered 66 crews in 6 events and recorded 8 “fastest in class” times.

It is with the greatest sadness that we have to advise members that Brian Dorling was tragically killed in a road accident.

Brian was a long serving member who brought an enormous amount to the Club through his consistently positive attitude and commitment to support the Club as well as his competitive participation. He was a key member of the team working on the Clubhouse Development Project. He will be very greatly missed.

The funeral will be on Friday 4th November at 2pm at St Edmund’s Catholic Church Whitton, followed by the committal at South West Middx crematorium, Hanworth. We hope that as many members as possible will attend and Debbie has suggested that Club blazers would be appropriate dress for rowers.

At Debbie’s request there will also be a wake at the Club after the funeral and this is expected to be from around 4pm on Friday afternoon. Even if you are unable to attend the funeral please try to get to the Club.

Donations should be given in Brian’s memory, rather than flowers and she would like the money raised to go towards a new club sculling boat, which will of course be named “Brian Dorling”. Donations can be given in one of four ways:

• Sent to the funeral directors who are Holmes & Son, 92 Whitton Road, Hounslow, TW3 2DQ. Cheques should be made payable to Twickenham Rowing Club and donations should be marked in memory of Brian Dorling.
• Through the Just Giving web page in Brian’s memory
• At the funeral where we plan to have some donation envelopes available
• Directly to the Club’s account (e.g. by e-payment), but please advise Peter Jennings and Kay Plumtree that your payment is a donation in Brian’s memory.

Provided Gift Aid forms have been completed, it should be possible for the Club to claim Gift Aid on donations. If you are making a donation and have not completed a Gift Aid form before (you only need to do it once), please contact Kay or Peter.

We hope that everyone from every squad – be you social member, senior, veteran, novice, recreational, lifelong or ‘learn-to-row’ – will join this ultimate annual event.

This year we also really want to encourage you to bring back old members who perhaps for one reason or another have drifted away. Or perhaps you are a long standing member who has not been to the club for a while – this is the opportunity to reconnect. Contact your old crew mates, organise a table and let’s see if we can reunite novice pot winning crews from the 70s and 80s, Henley qualifiers from the 90s and Twickenham Regatta winners from the millennium.

With the club redevelopment underway it’s a perfect time to come together and reunite past and present members for the next chapter of our amazing club.

As well as a delicious menu we have a host of fun activities planned, including a disco. And to extend the fun we will also be hosting a post dinner party back at the clubhouse.

This weekend sees the Charlies Shore Regatta (Saturday 17th 10am to 1pm) and SUP event (Sunday 18th all day) taking place right outside our club.

Whilst boating for outings can occur as normal, please be aware these events are taking place and navigate with care.  You may be temporarily held by a marshal from entering the channel if a race is underway.

Also, the Great River Race comes to its end at Ham House on Saturday afternoon. There will be many GRR boats around so please avoid boating if possible.  If you do boat, please work in teh stretch between teh top of Eel Pie Island and Teddington Lock.

There will also be no parking along the embankment for the duration of the events – all weekend.
